land + waters
I’m anchored by childhood memories of timelessness, resting in fields of green and gold grass, feeling enveloped by the wide open sky. I’m anchored by my memory of the roar, depth, and speed of what are known as the North and South Saskatchewan Rivers in Treaty 6 territory, homeland of the Métis. I have settler heritage and am not Indigenous to Canada.
I live, travel, and work in the Lower Mainland, from the North Shore through to the Valley, across the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including Stó:lō territory.
I am learning to build real relationships with the communities on whose lands I live and work. This acknowledgement is under active revision: I invite accountability, correction, and guidance as I commit to making the most ethical choices I can about resource use, waste, and impact, in honour of these lands, waters, and peoples.
